A few more inks from a set earlier this year and still being added too.

Last night we watched Alphaville, directed by Jean-Luc Goddard. The above quote is from the movie. Logic reigns supreme and all is decided and judged by a sentient computer system. Loads of dystopian, sci-fi movies have been made and I pretty much dig all of them in some way. This was pretty awesome though. I have a mega love for film noir, crime and Paris, so this was a pretty sweet blend of things for me. The voice of Alpha 60 is also one of the spookiest/coolest thigns I’ve ever heard!

My favourite exchange in the movie

Alpha 60: What is the privilege of the dead?

Lemmy Caution:To die no more.

Lemmy Caution:I refuse to become what you call normal.

Alpha 60: What is your secret? Tell me, Mr. Caution.
Lemmy Caution:Something which never changes, day or night. The past represents its future. It advances in a straight line, yet it ends by coming full circle.

Alpha 60: I shall calculate so that failure is impossible.
Lemmy Caution: I shall fight so that failure is possible.

A couple of watercolour and ink stuff from a little series I did earlier in the year.  I plan on adding to these and hope I get to show them at some point this year.

The Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne session on Wednesday was AMAZING!  Mama Lou:Strong Woman is the ultimate professional and all time sweet lady.  A life model, comedian, strong woman and beauty all in the one package!
The surprise for the night was “Evil Chris”, normally known as Chris “Australia’s Weapon of Mass Destruction” Knight current heavy weight champion of Wrestlerock.  Chris crashed Dr Sketchy mid way through the session and challenged Mama Lou to the death, we all got the sketch the battle that ensued and had loads of fun!

Darlinda just Darlinda is a performer I have been familiar with and very much admired since becoming a part of the Dr Sketchy family and seeing what she does in New York.  Mama Lou and I got talking about dream performers after our session and of course Darlinda came up.

Mama Lou mentioned a living art project Darlinda is currently undertaking where she dresses as a colour of the rainbow for a month, seeing what effects the colour has on her and others - also alternating with dressing in rainbow for the none specific colour months!  I can’t stop reading it, Darlinda is an absolute inspiration for the effervescent life that I can see on her blog, full of creativity, personality, spirit and individuality - how I wish I was in New York, to run into a gorgeous lady dressed like a rainbow!
It’s a must read blog! I have not at all given Darlinda’s project justice with my above description - visit www.yearinrainbow.com and check the press release page for more info.

But, I have been drawing and painting like a maniac and constantly thinking on ways to do more fun things with Dr Sketchy’s since my last post.  i just haven’t updated.  This will change!

I really want to pull together atleast 1 exhibition this year - group I hop as the thought of covering costs for a solo show is too scary and I love working with awesome peoples.

No apprenticeship as yet which weighs on me but never holds me done, it’s my dream baby!

More images coming…

Come to this tonight, it is going to be HUGE fun, there will be a secret, very large sized (6′2″ and blonde) surprise!!!

I switched this blog/home for my artwork to private a while back.  I struggle with putting my own work out there and managing feelings of doubt and generally (usually to my regret)end up discarding my work.

But, that is a shithead way to look at things and live life in general.  So, no more private.  I am also going back to daily portraits.  I learnt so much in making it a part of my routine and have a nice big mirror I can move around now so I’m not just limited to the bathroom mirror.  I think I got a bit lost in trying to make work that was outside of my own personal style, ideas of personal style being a really big thing for me. Not being true meant I was pumping out shitty work.  No mind, you should lookalways be able to look back and say ‘woah, that was shitty, heres hoping it’s better’…

Here’s some of the recent stuff I’ve been keeping busy with (outside of Dr Sketchy’s and making flash sheets)…

This is another new one, I can’t believe how much paint I managed to slather over this poor piece of paper.

I’ll be away for short bit, heading back into some work to make a bit of money to get new supplies - this one was my last bit of good paper!

New work, horses..

November 6, 2007

Still been keeping up the lotsa drawing schedule. So I have 4 more flash styled sheets (1 based of a Sailor Jerry pic) and am working on a couple of horse paintings based off horses I came across while reading Don Quixote. Babieca and Bucephalus were two of the greatest war horses of all time…  The Bucephalus painting is actually referenced from an Andre Castaigne painting, I used the bucking horse idea…

Tonight we go to see 30 Days of Night preview!

Well, as already mentioned Dr Sketchy’s last week rocked!  Here’s a couple of my sketches from the night.  Sitting on stage with the girls can make perspective very difficult, but always fun!

Last Thursday I got the chance to check out the work of some of the Dr Sketchy regulars - artists Michelle Giacobello and Daniel Sanger have a duo exhibition on at the moment titled, Momentum.  Thursday was opening night at Loco Cafe in Elsternick and I was blown away!  I am now an official admirer of both of their work.  Go and check it out before it’s too late!
